The government's position is clear. We will vote against all elements of the migration pact, said Finance Minister Andrzej Domański in Brussels. As he said, “the PiS government has spoiled practically everything that could be spoiled in these negotiations and has not fulfilled its obligation to take care of Poland's interests.”

On Tuesday, representatives of EU countries are to adopt in Brussels 10 documents constituting the Pact on Migration and Asylum, the aim of which is a broad reform of European immigration policy. This reform is intended to ease the burden on EU countries where most migrants arrive, provide a more effective and fair legal framework for registering and processing asylum applications, and reduce secondary flows of immigrants.

Domański: The PiS government has spoiled practically everything that could be spoiled in these negotiations

Minister of Finance Andrzej Domański he said in a conversation with journalists this morning that “the government's position is consistent and unambiguous.” – We are consistently against those negotiated by the government PiS elements of the migration pact, he said. – In our opinion, it does not take into account the specificity of the countries bordering, for example, Belarus, countries that are facing the growing pressure of the so-called hybrid war. The provisions of the migration pact do not adequately take into account the relationship between responsibility and solidarity, he pointed out.

– The PiS government has spoiled practically everything that could be spoiled in these negotiations and has not fulfilled its obligation to take care of Poland's interests, which is why our government's position is clear – we are voting against all elements of the migration pact – said Domański.

– We are creating a coalition of countries that will discuss this migration pact at subsequent stages. However, today our position is very clear. We vote very strongly against it, he added.
