Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak on the possible launch of trains to Austria and Italy in winter

The Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak said in the “#bezkit” program on TVN24 that his proposal regarding the launch of trains to Austria and Italy in winter was “wrongly criticized”. “If people really think it is unnecessary, no one will insist on this proposal,” he assured.

Dariusz Klimczak from PSL, Minister of Infrastructure, referred to his words from Wednesday's conversation on Radio Zet. He said then that maybe work on the launch of trains to Austria would start launching by PKP Intercity and Italian in the ski season.

– We are thinking about winter today and skiing. My goal is to create a train to Italy and Austria, (…). I will try to create this type of connection because I know that there is a lot of interest. (…) I hope that I can do it, although – as I talk to railwaymen – it is very difficult – said Klimczak on Wednesday on the radio antenna.

Klimczak: My proposal was wrongly criticized

Now on TVN24 Klimczak explained that passengers should be offered various types of connection. – We focus primarily on Poland, on tourist directions, which are at our Polish hosts at the seaside, in Masuria, in the mountains. However, many people ask for other directions and such international connections are standard – he pointed out.

– We go to Prague, to Vienna, and Baltic Express to Prague is a hit. It also turned out to be a hit train to Croatiawhich will start 27 (June – red). E -mails appeared, questions about whether in the winter season you can not offer another offer – he explained.

The Minister of Infrastructure noted that “this proposal was criticized”. – I think that wrongly or maliciously, because it has been suggested that I do not deal with agglomeration, local, Polish, but international connections. And this is not true, because I spend 99.9 percent of time on Polish and local connections – he argued.

– This winter connection is not calculated. It was a loose discussion about the proposal of passengers, those who write emails to Intercity, or to us, to the ministry – said the minister.

Dariusz Klimczak, asked if he maintains the desire to create a winter connection to Italy or Austria, replied that “it is de facto not depending on him”. – It depends on the intercity processing power. It also depends on the technical conditions – he pointed out.

– I would not like our trains to run out of long -distance connections in Poland. At the expense of this type of train – he replied.

The Minister of Infrastructure emphasized that “the voice of the people is the most important.” – If people really think it is unnecessary, no one will insist on this proposal. I emphasize: we focus on what is happening in our holidays in Poland – he assured.
