The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage announced the earnings of the new management and recently employed employees. This is a list of people in 30 positions who joined the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage between October and December 2023. During this period, over PLN 33,000 gross was also paid as severance pay to employees. The data was provided by the Deputy Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Andrzej Wyrobiec.
Marcin Józefaciuk from the Civic Coalition sent an interpellation to the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz. The MP asked how many employees were employed in the ministry in the period from October to December 2023 and how much salary they received. Józefaciuk also asked for information on the amount of severance pay received by employees during the above period.
The answer was provided by the Deputy Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Andrzej Wyrobiec.
Salaries at the Ministry of Culture
The data provided shows that nine employees have been employed at the Ministry of Culture since the beginning of October.
The list opens with an IT specialist employed on a fixed-term employment contract until September 30, 2024. His salary (fixed monthly remuneration components) in the period from October to December amounted to a total of PLN 24,182.58 gross, i.e. PLN 8,060.86 per month.
This is more than the two main specialists employed during the same period. One of them received PLN 22,079.73 gross, i.e. PLN 7,359.91 per month. The salary of PLN 23,223.18 gross (PLN 7,741.06 per month) applies to the second chief specialist who joined the ministry on a transfer.
Since October, several specialists and senior specialists have also found employment at the Ministry of Culture. The responses to the interpellation show that their salary in the last quarter ranged from PLN 5,476.13 to PLN 6,361.94 gross per month. In turn, the senior inspector, also employed since the beginning of October, earned PLN 14,456.97 gross in three months, i.e. PLN 4,818.99 per month.
Two more people were hired in mid-October – a chief specialist and an IT specialist. In less than three months, they earned PLN 18,734.31 and PLN 14,496.80 gross, respectively.
Employment increased again in November. Nine people joined then, mainly chief and senior specialists. However, among those employed since November 1, the internal auditor has the highest earnings – PLN 17,611.22 gross, i.e. PLN 8,805.61 per month.
Earnings of the new management of the Ministry of Culture
Deputy Minister Wyrobiec also announced the salaries (for less than a month of work) received by the new management of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage:
- minister (from December 13) – PLN 10,297.68 gross,
- two secretaries of state (from December 13) – PLN 9,282.44 gross,
- department director (from December 14) – PLN 8,025.70 gross,
- department director (from December 15) – PLN 7,741.40 gross,
- undersecretary of state (from December 16) – PLN 6,750.86 gross,
- undersecretary of state (from December 19) – PLN 5,907.00 gross,
- minister’s advisor (from December 22) – PLN 1,600.00 gross.
Minister of Culture and National Heritage in the government Donald Tusk is Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz. Bożena Żelazowska and Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus are secretaries of state, and Andrzej Wyrobiec and Marta Cienkowska are undersecretaries of state. The general director is Dorota Żebrowska.
Briefings for minister’s advisors
During almost the entire period of the last rule of Law and Justice, he headed the Ministry of Culture Piotr Gliński. Almost, because just before the change of power, for two weeks she was the head of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (in the government Mateusz Morawiecki) was Dominika Chorosińska.
According to the information provided by Wyrobec, in the period from October to December 2023, severance pay was paid to three advisors to the Minister of Culture – in the amount of PLN 3,310, PLN 9,264 and PLN 6,974, respectively. The total amount is PLN 19,548.
In addition, the head of the political cabinet received a severance pay, in this case it amounted to PLN 13,504.90.
“In the period from October to December 2023, PLN 33,052.90 gross was paid as severance pay for employees,” said the deputy head of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
