The Minister of the Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kamiński, announced in a Wednesday announcement that, at the request of the Border Guard and the Internal Security Agency, the West Pomeranian Voivode will introduce a temporary ban on staying within 200 meters around the LNG terminal in Świnoujście from Thursday.

The strategic importance of the facility

The minister reminded that the LNG terminal in Świnoujście receives natural gas in an amount corresponding to approx. 30 percent. domestic consumption, and the facility is of strategic importance for the functioning of the Polish economy and energy security of Poles.

“The experiences of recent months, including the damage to the Nord Stream gas pipeline, as well as the disclosure by the Polish services of people suspected of collaborating with the Russian special services, who, among others, prepared acts of sabotage on behalf of Russian intelligence, force important decisions to be taken to ensure the security of the Polish state Bearing in mind the above, I instructed the West Pomeranian Voivode to take urgent action to minimize the resulting inconvenience,” Kamiński added.
