A 37-year-old resident of Węgrów County, who was driving a passenger car under the influence of alcohol, faces up to five years in prison. When she was stopped by the police, she had almost three per mille of alcohol in her body and she was traveling with her six-year-old son.

The incident took place on Monday, June 3, but now police officers from Mińsk Mazowiecki have informed about it. The officers were alerted that a Volkswagen was driving on national road No. 2 towards Siedlce, whose driver may be drunk. Police officers were dispatched to the site and in the town of Ryczołek they stopped the car for inspection. It turned out that the driver was a 37-year-old woman, and the police immediately smelled of alcohol.

The test showed that the driver had almost three per mille of alcohol in her body. “During the inspection, the police's special attention was drawn to the sight of the driver's 6-year-old son in a car seat in the backseat,” emphasizes the police in Mińsk Mazowiecki in a published statement.

Up to five years in prison

The child was handed over to her father, and the 37-year-old was taken to the police station. “The woman was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and endangering the life or health of her six-year-old son. Her driving license was also suspended,” the police inform.

Now the resident of Węgrów County faces up to five years in prison. The proceedings are supervised by the District Prosecutor's Office in Mińsk Mazowiecki.

The police appeal to report all cases in which we suspect that a driver may pose a threat. “We appeal: if you have been drinking alcohol – do not get behind the wheel! If you witness such behavior – react! Someone's life may depend on our attitude,” the police emphasize.
