Five -year -old Labrador Czako is not only a guide dog. – It's a friend, a companion is a heart – admitted Artur Adamczyk.
Mr. Artur, who has been creating a duo for three years, says that thanks to him he can move completely differently and explore the world. It would be hard without a dog. – I had a very bad eyes from the kid, but I saw something there, somehow I could handle it. And now it's getting worse – he said.
“It was a challenge”
They are inseparable. Also at the National Institute of Geriatrics, Rheumatology and Rehabilitation, where Mr. Artur will be for several days. Due to leg surgery.
The guide dog has the full right to help in all places of the so -called public utility. These provisions also apply to medical facilities. But undoubtedly a few days stay is more demanding for the hospital.
– Yes, it was a challenge. Because we have the opportunity to hospitalize the patient who is with her companion for the first time – indicated Izabela Marcewicz -Jendrysik, director of the National Institute of Geriatrics, Rheumatology and Rehabilitation in Warsaw.
It's something like a special mission, the codenamed “czako”. It was necessary to plan this stay from beginning to end, so as to ensure, above all, epidemiological safety. Mr. Artur and Czako got a single room.

The stay of Chako coincides with the idea of the Institute, thanks to which patients could also visit their animals. – To save space at the Institute, not in the clinic of one or the other, but in such a neutral space of the hospital – described Izabela Marcewicz -Jendrysik.

Contact with the animal is important at every stage of human life – Dr. Ida Dobrucka -Janeczek, a psychologist and psychotherapist from the National Institute of Geriatrics, Rheumatology and Rehabilitation in Warsaw, pointed out.
However, in the case of seniors, often lonely, a dog or a cat is not only an animal that has at home. – The animal is very often the only person, because this is how animals are treated as a person in the life of an elderly person – she concluded.
