The Ministry of Climate and Environment announced that it had submitted a notification to the prosecutor’s office regarding the suspicion of a crime committed by the former director of the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Gdańsk, Bartłomiej Obajtek. The ministry stated that the crime would consist in failure to fulfill duties.

According to the ministry, the notification to the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk indicated the suspicion of committing a crime involving failure to fulfill the obligations arising from the order of the Minister of Climate and Environment of January 5, 2024 by actively participating in activities aimed at the sale and concluding a preliminary contract for the sale of premises in Gdynia.

According to the Ministry of Climate and Environment, this is an action to the detriment of the public interest, aimed at achieving a financial benefit in the form of a 95% discount. actual value of the property.

According to the ministry, there are grounds to claim that the preliminary agreement is invalid, including: as inconsistent with the provisions of the Forest Act and the regulation regulating the principles and procedure for the sale of premises and land with residential buildings under construction and the criteria for qualifying them as unsuitable for the State Forests.

As the ministry recalled, on January 5, 2024, Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska issued an order to the then director of the RDSF in Gdańsk, Bartłomiej Obajtek, to suspend all activities aimed at disposing of forests, land and other real estate owned by the State Treasury and managed by the RDLP in Gdańsk. In particular, it was about selling them. The suspension was to last until the previously ordered inspection was completed.

Initiated on January 4, 2024, the inspection covers the rental and sale by organizational units of the State Forests to employees, members of their families, etc. of real estate located in the resources of the Gdańsk Forest District, RDSF in Gdańsk, and the human resources policy in the RDSF in Gdańsk and the Gdańsk Forest District. The ministry predicts that the inspection will last “the next few weeks.”

On Monday, January 15, 2024, Bartłomiej Obajtek was, by decision of the Director General of the State Forests, Witold Koss, dismissed from the position of Director of RDLP in Gdańsk.
