The fraudsters convinced a 30-year-old resident of the Mława poviat (Masovian) that he was involved in a police action against corruption with the participation of postal and bank employees. To “protect” his savings, he transferred them to the “police account”. In this way, the man lost over PLN 100,000.

The incident occurred last week. A reserved number called a 30-year-old resident of the Mława poviat. During a conversation with a stranger, the man learned that “he would soon be provided with an important official correspondence.” After this conversation, he received another connection, this time from a man, claiming to be an officer of the anti -corruption office from Warsaw. He heard that “criminals are planning to rob him.” Post and bank employees were also to be involved in the practice.

They manipulated it and urged him to pay for further payments

– The criminal, claiming to be a policeman, ordered the man to pay all savings to a police account. The deceived resident of the Mława poviat, using fast electronic payments, made such a payment. Then he poured the funds accumulated several times to the account given by criminals – informed the police spokeswoman in Mława, staff aspirant Anna Pawłowska. And she added: – The fraudsters manipulated him and urged them to pay for two days. Finally, a confused man came to the Mława police station. Real police officers immediately notified the bank about the need to block funds on their account, given by criminals. Further activities are underway.

They are robbed not only by older people

The police warn: the presented method of fraudsters is widely known. Despite this, the perpetrators are still robbing people – and not only older ones. – They use the surprise and time of time, evoke stress and strong emotions, a sense of fear. They use manipulation, which lasts from several hours to several days. During their actions, they ask the interlocutor not to disconnect for a long time – the spokeswoman explained.

If you receive such a connection, you should disconnect and use another phone, notify the police about the event. – A real policeman will never ask you to transfer money. There is also no such thing as a “work account” where you can secure your savings. If the interlocutor suggests that our money is threatened and we must transfer it to the bank's work account, let's be sure that the fraud is calling us – Pawłowska summed up aspirant.
