The 31-year-old was traveling with a 58-year-old passenger. At some point, the man changed her behind the wheel, but his behavior alarmed the woman who was watching the situation. She called the police to the spot. It turned out that the couple was drunk. “In conversation with the policemen, they explained that they were going for alcohol” – the officers say and add that the man tried to bribe them.

A 31-year-old resident of the Mława district, who was driving a Citroen, stopped in front of the intersection with the national road No. 7. “A staggering man got out of the car, from the passenger side, who switched to the wheel of the car. The whole situation was observed by a random driver and she decided to intervene” – describes in the communiqué asp. pcs. Anna Pawłowska from the police in Mława. And he adds that the woman approached the man, took the keys from him before he could move and called the police.

The officers checked the sobriety of a 31-year-old woman who had previously driven a Citroen and a man who had taken the wheel. According to Pawłowska, the woman had almost three per mille of alcohol in her body, and her 58-year-old companion – more than three per mille. What’s more, it turned out that the man never had a driver’s license. “In a conversation with the policemen, they explained that they were going for alcohol. During the intervention, the drunk man took money out of his wallet and tried to hand it over to the policemen in exchange for resignation from official duties” – reports Pawłowska.

The couple was arrested. According to the police officer, after sobering up, the 31-year-old was charged with driving while intoxicated. It is punishable by a heavy fine and up to two years in prison. The woman also lost her driving license. In turn, the 58-year-old was charged with providing a financial advantage to public officials. And for this – as Pawłowska reports – he faces up to eight years in prison. “Further actions of the police and the prosecutor’s office are underway” – the policewoman points out.
