A 61-year-old man drowned in the Wolbórka River in Młynary (Łódź Voivodeship). According to preliminary findings of the services, the man went winter swimming and did not return home. The man’s wife was taken to hospital and fainted when firefighters arrived.
The incident occurred on November 27 around 9 p.m. in Młynary near Wolbórz. The services received a report about a man who was supposed to go winter swimming in the nearby Wolbórka River and did not return home.
When they arrived, the 61-year-old was pulled to the shore
According to Brigadier Jędrzej Pawlak, press spokesman of the Provincial Commander of the State Fire Service in Łódź, after the services arrived at the scene, the wanted man was dragged to the shore.
– A 57-year-old woman who was at the scene fainted after the firefighters arrived and was taken to hospital after being helped. Unfortunately, despite the rescue operation, the 61-year-old man’s life could not be saved, says the firefighter.
The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the police under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office in Piotrków Trybunalski.
