PKP PLK has selected a designer for the railway line to Modlin and the station at the airport. The preparation of the documentation will cost almost PLN 5 million.
The Marshal of the Masovian Voivodeship, Adam Struzik, emphasized in a press release that when planning the further development of the airport in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, he believes that this railway connection is necessary. – We will also secure a reserve of land for the extension of this railway line towards Płock – he added.
They are thinking about a second lane and a terminal
The Marshal noted that the railway connection between Chopin Airport and Modlin Airport would allow the latter to expand its operations. It is planned to build a second runway and a new terminal, which is included in the development plan of this airport.
The agreement between the local government of the Masovian Voivodeship and PKP PLK regarding the construction of a section of the railway line from the Modlin station to the airport, including the construction of the station, was concluded on July 20, 2016. The implementation of the investment is the responsibility of the railway workers, while the voivodeship government has declared its willingness to cooperate and cover the costs, among others. development of design and cost estimate documentation and land purchase. He also committed to financing the implementation stage in the absence of EU funds.

Almost six kilometers of tracks
On Monday, railway workers selected the most advantageous offer in the tender for the development of design documentation. The consortium Infra – Centrum Doradztwa Sp. was appointed. z o. o. and YLE Inżynierowie, which valued their services at PLN 4.87 million.
The project will include the construction of a new, double-track railway line from Modlin station to the Modlin airport. Its length is approximately 5.8 kilometers. It is also planned to build a railway station near the existing roundabout. The variant assumes the construction of two tracks with a 200-meter-long platform. It will also be necessary to expand the existing Modlin railway station with another track and a 200-meter-long platform. The works also include the construction of three road viaducts.
Millions reserved in the budget
Funds for the implementation of this project have been reserved in the budget of the Masovian Voivodeship. PLN 11.3 million has been allocated for this purpose for 2024, and PLN 10.8 million for 2025 (for design and cost estimate documentation and land purchase).
