The Minister of Infrastructure approved the General Plan for the Warsaw-Modlin airport for 2022-2045. “Today, with the current network of connections, the port is at the limit of capacity and urgently requires expansion,” the release said.

Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak approved the General Plan for the Warsaw-Modlin airport for 2022–2045, in terms of compliance with the country's transport policy, the Ministry of Infrastructure said in a statement on Friday.

“Thanks to the approval of this plan, the Modlin airport has a chance to develop and provide passengers with an appropriate aviation offer. Additionally, after the decision to modernize the Chopin airport in Warsaw, it will allow for increased travel opportunities at Mazovia airports,” MI said in a statement on Friday.

It was noted that passengers are more willing to choose low-cost airlines and this is an opportunity for the Modlin airport, which handled 3.4 million passengers last year. “Today, with the current network of connections, the port is at the limit of capacity and urgently requires expansion. Both the aviation and passenger infrastructure require modernization,” it was pointed out.
