Police officers from Poniec (Wielkopolska) were notified of an attempt to steal money from the church treasury. According to the findings of the officers, the 60-year-old tried to pull out the cash with a kitchen knife. The knife got stuck in a metal cassette and the woman was charged. A few hours later, she returned to the church with another knife and a kitchen pestle.

An attempt to steal money was supposed to take place on Sunday in one of the churches in the municipality of Poniec. “As determined by the uniform, a 60-year-old resident of the Gostyń poviat tried to force the church piggy bank with a kitchen knife. As a result, the woman failed to get to the money stored in it, and the knife she used got stuck in a metal cassette” – we read in the police release.

The 60-year-old woman was charged with attempted burglary on Monday. According to the police, she confessed to everything, and the officers secured the knife she used.

Police: returned a few hours later, was arrested in the act

“A few hours after the interrogation, the woman returned to the crime scene. Equipped with a baseball cap, a headlamp, glasses, a knife and a kitchen pestle, she again tried to force the piggy bank. This time she also failed to break the lock securing the cassette. The woman was arrested by the police in the act” – stated in the communiqué of uniformed officers from Gostyń.

According to the police, the 60-year-old will be charged with attempted burglary.
