The Mondelez International group, which produces Toblerone and Milka chocolates and Oreo, Ritz and LU biscuits, has asked the Norwegian government to meet and defend its interests, which have been affected by the boycott by Scandinavian companies. The food giant, blacklisted by the Ukrainian National Agency for Corruption Prevention, counts on the support of the government in Oslo.

Companies such as SAS and Norwegian Air, SJ Railway, Strawberry hotel chain, Elkjop chain, Fjord Line and finally the Norwegian Football Association have announced that they will stop selling Mondelez products, which has not yet withdrawn from Russia. Mondelez says it has suspended advertising campaigns and investments in Russia and that it does not sell in Norway products produced there.

Moreover, the company has expressed its condemnation of the war and complies with international agreements and sanctions, adapting its operations where necessary.

The Norwegian government is not going to force anyone to do anything

Mondelez appealed for the sanctions officially adopted by the West to be the basis for the market’s actions and stressed the importance of objective criteria, thanks to which all entities would be treated equally.

Norway’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday it planned to meet with companies on both sides of the boycott, but did not propose a solution.

“It is up to companies and individuals to make independent choices about what to buy and with whom to trade,” Secretary of State Erling Rimestad said in a statement.
