On Friday afternoon, two boys, aged 13 and 12, were hit in Monice in the Sieradz County (Łódź Province). The older one, with serious injuries, was taken to the hospital, where, after several hours of doctors’ struggle for his life, he died. The perpetrator of the accident had over 2.5 per mille of alcohol in the body.
As reported by Agnieszka Kulawiecka from the District Police Headquarters in Sieradz, the incident took place on Friday (December 3) after 3 p.m.
According to preliminary information, a 27-year-old resident of Zduńska Wola, driving his seat towards Sieradz, lost control of the vehicle on a bend of the road and ran over two boys riding on bicycles from the opposite direction.
The 13-year-old is dead
One of them, a 13-year-old, was seriously injured and was transported by helicopter to the Polish Mother Hospital in Łódź. Doctors did what they could.
– During the night we received information that – as a result of very serious injuries – a 13-year-old boy had died. Despite the help, it was not possible to save his life – said Joanna Kącka, spokeswoman for the Provincial Police Headquarters in Łódź, on Saturday (4 December).
Injuries of the second boy – a 12-year-old – do not threaten his life.

Immediately after the incident, the police detained the 27-year-old driving the car at the scene. After the sobriety test, it turned out that he had more than 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his body.
– Driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol is punishable by up to two years in prison, but for causing a fatal accident, driving in such a state, is punishable by up to 12 years imprisonment – emphasizes Kącka.
