The management of the poviat hospital in Łosice (Mazowieckie Voivodeship) had to suspend the activities of paediatrics. Since April 1, the department has no head. The current one left for health reasons, and no one wants to replace him. Small patients are sent to the hospital in Siemiatycze or Siedlce, and in Łosice the beds are empty.

– The situation is very difficult. We advertise everywhere we can – says Grażyna Podlipniak-Sobczyńska, director of the Independent Public Health Care Center in Łosice.

From April 1, the facility had to suspend the activities of the pediatric ward. There is no candidate for the position of superintendent. The previous one resigned at the beginning of the year for health reasons and his notice period expired at the end of March.

You must have a second degree specialization

– The branch is newly renovated. We also have full equipment that meets all standards, including devices donated to us by the Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Foundation. Only the supervisor is missing. I hope we can find him as soon as possible. Although it’s not easy. It is a responsible job, and candidates must have a second degree specialization in paediatrics, which is the highest in this field – emphasizes the director.

Patients are referred to two other hospitals

There are 12 beds in the ward. – So far we have hospitalized small patients with diseases of the respiratory, urinary, digestive and circulatory systems. We discharged the last persons on April 2. From the next day, we did not accept new ones – emphasizes Grażyna Podlipniak-Sobczyńska.
