It was a rare situation a few generations ago. This is currently a clear trend. Early motherhood is in retreat. It is 40 -year -olds who want, plan and become pregnant – more often than women before twenty. This is data from the American report, but the trend is also clear in Poland. What are the reasons for this?
Anna has just turned 40. Now he is preparing for a new opportunity to celebrate. Already at the end of May. Everything is planned and what is important – wanted.
– I am fully aware of what I want – says Anna Kania. – All decisions we make are my decisions – he adds.
Mrs. Anna is no exception. There are more and more women around forty. American studies have first shown that the number of women giving birth to this age is greater than those below twenty.
What is the reason for late motherhood?
The director of fashion shows Katarzyna Sokołowska, who became a mother at the age of 49, reminds that every woman about pregnancy should decide herself. Especially when it has more and more possibilities.
– A little later we get old after all, we are more active longer, we work longer, so it also translates into thinking about motherhood – he points out.
Sometimes it is a coincidence, later concluded relationships. But often the reason for the late motherhood are the barriers of the state. – I know that women would like to give birth, but for various reasons they delay this time – says Krystyna Kacpura from the Foundation for Women and Planning Federa.
– The main reason is the lack of state support, no security – says Maja Drożdżak, a gynecolor from the Federa Health Center.
Which means that women even give up pregnancy or at least delay this decision. This happens not only in Poland.
Number of births among older ones by almost 200 percent higher
The number of births among younger women in the last 30 years has been systematically decreasing. It increased by almost 200 percent among the elders.
– This is the group that somehow waited for such a moment of obtaining some relative stability – says Dr. Joanna Heidtman, a psychologist and psychotherapist.
It is important that this stability does not come too late. – Time does not work in our favor – he admits. Because biology, although today gives great opportunities, still means restrictions.
– The age of a woman correlates with such complications as preeklapsia, i.e. increased pressure – indicates Dr. Agnieszka Nalewczyńska, a gynecolor.

Although it sounds threatening, doctors calm down – just right control. The words of others should not be discouraged. – That pregnancy in forty is already such an act of desperation – says the example of Anna.
Rather, the act is increasingly common. Mothers more than half of the children emerging in the United States are women over thirty. In Poland, GUS statistics clearly show that at this age women are growing more and more often. And everything indicates that this average will only grow.
