The number of intervention pick-ups of children is growing, and the number of blue cards is falling – noted Renata Szredzińska from the Empowering Children Foundation in “One na one”. – We have the latest data for 2021, it was over 1,335 interventions – she said, adding that “the courts made eight thousand decisions to deprive parental authority”.

Marcin Zaborski’s guest on Friday’s edition of “One for One” on TVN24 was Renata Szredzińska, member of the Management Board of the Empowering Children Foundation, where she is responsible, among others, for the Child Protection Policy and evaluation.

In the program, she was asked how often it happens that the services have to take a child out of the house due to a threat to health or life. – We have the latest data for 2021, it was over 1,335 interventions – she replied. When she said that three or four children had to be taken out of the house every day, she admitted: – Yes, that’s how it is with us.

Szredzińska: These are not all children who suffer from violence

– We must remember that these are not all children who suffer from violence, because the courts, also in 2021, made eight thousand decisions to deprive parental authority, which most likely involved either violence or neglect of the child – she pointed out.

Szredzińska noted that “the number of interventions to pick up children is increasing”. – And the number blue cards it’s really going down,” she added. – One of the hypotheses may be that the less we use the assistance procedure, which is the blue card procedure, which is assumed in the case of suspected domestic violence, the more often we have to react in acute, emergency and crisis situations – she explained.

“Kamilek Act” in the Sejm

Szredzińska in “One for One” on TVN24 reminded that yesterday MPs dealt with the so-called “Kamilek Act”, i.e. a draft amendment to the Family and Guardianship Code. The bill has been waiting in the Sejm for over a month. – We are glad that this project is now available and that it has met with favor – she admitted.
