The rising temperature in Spain has exacerbated the fire situation problem. More than 100 new outbreaks appeared in Asturias on Thursday. Moreover, the authorities are of the opinion that the outbreaks of fires are not accidental.

More than 100 forest fires broke out in Asturias, Spain, on Thursday alone. The fire risk in the country has increased as the weather has gotten warmer, authorities said. According to the Spanish meteorological agency AEMET, on Wednesday the country recorded a temperature of about 7-14 degrees Celsius above the values suggested by the long-term average.

However, it is not only rising temperatures that favor fires. According to information provided by the authorities, arsonists are responsible for the simultaneous outbreak of so many fires.

The Asturian authorities have banned entering the forests, burning grass, as well as using machines and mechanical tools that could cause further fires. Videos shown in the Spanish media show how fire trucks pass just a few meters from the flames and try to spray water to bring the situation under control.

Too mild winter

Since last week, fires have also been raging in Valencia. The flames have already destroyed over 4.7 thousand hectares of land.

According to the Spanish authorities, this year promises to be very difficult in terms of the fire situation. The winter there was exceptionally mild and snowless, which affected the condition of the ground.
