Morgan Geyser, who stabbed her classmate Peyton Leutner at the age of 12 in order to impress the mythical internet character “Slender Man”, will be released from a psychiatric hospital 11 years after the brutal attack. The decision was made after another attempt to apply for freedom.
Morgan Geyser will leave the psychiatric hospital. 11 years ago she wanted to kill a classmate
The attempted murder of Payton Leutner by Morgan Geyser occurred in 2014. Three years later, in 2017, Geyser pleaded guilty and was sent to a psychiatric hospital. On January 9, Judge Michael Bohren of Wisconsin issued a decision to release 22-year-old Morgan from the hospital. It has sunk in after the judge heard the opinions of three psychologists who confirmed that Geyser had made significant progress during her many years at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute. One of the experts, Dr. Brooke Lundbohm, said during the court hearing that Geyser stopped taking antidepressants almost two years ago and since then she has not experienced any symptoms that would pose a threat to society (recall that Morgan was previously diagnosed with schizophrenia). Dr. Deborah Collins thinks similarly and emphasized that The 23-year-old cannot forgive herself for the attack on Leutner. Dr. Ken Robbins sees a danger in further stay in a psychiatric facility. However, after these opinions, the judge ordered that Geyser be placed in a group home, where she will be subject to 60 days of supervision before the case can be reconsidered in court. “Morgan Geyser seems to have a good attitude,” Judge Bohren told CNN.
