A hot water pipe burst at the Vremena Goda shopping center in Moscow on Saturday. As a result of the accident, four people died and many were injured, the TASS news agency reported, citing local authorities.
“A rupture of a hot water pipe caused a serious accident in the Vremena Goda shopping center. There are victims with burns,” Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin wrote on Saturday on his Telegram profile. Initially, it reported at least one fatality, later reported that three more died.

“The tragedy in the shopping center claimed the lives of three more people. Condolences to the families and friends. Emergency services are still at the scene,” the mayor said on social media.
Trapped in flooded rooms
TASS reports that the incident took place on the first floor of the gallery. According to information obtained by the agency, some people got stuck in rooms flooded with water, and a dozen others were cut off on the second floor due to “strong water pressure”.
It is not known exactly how many people were injured. Sobyanin informed that all the injured are being provided with medical assistance.
The Vremena Goda shopping center (from Russian: seasons of the year), located at ul. Kuruzowsky in Moscow, opened in 2007. The gallery houses over 150 shops.
