Wives of Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine protested in Moscow. They demanded that their husbands return from the front. About 15 women knelt in front of the resort with banners that read: “I'm alone, I'm fed up,” “Please bring dad home.” The protest organizers reported that at one point the police appeared and ordered the demonstration to end.

On Monday, in front of the Ministry of Defense in Moscow, about 15 wives of soldiers mobilized in connection with… war in Ukraine demanded the return of their men from the front. Demonstration participants also called for a meeting with the new Minister of Defense Russia Andrei Belousov.

As AFP writes, photos on Russian social media show a group of women kneeling in front of the ministry's headquarters, holding banners and signs with inscriptions including: “It's time for the mobilized people to return home”, “I'm alone, I'm fed up”, “Please bring daddy home.”

AFP points out that the Kremlin's intensifying repression has made demonstrations in Russia extremely rare, and associations of women or relatives of mobilized men demanding their return are the only ones still organizing rallies in Moscow.

Until the first days of 2024, calls for such demonstrations at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the foot of the Kremlin were made almost every week via the Telegram channel “Back Home”. However, after a series of arrests, these appeals have become much rarer, and the “Back Home” channel and the most active participant of this movement, Maria Andreeva, were recognized by the Kremlin as “foreign agents” a few days ago.
