The bodies of four people have been found in a sewer system in Moscow after being trapped in a downpour while exploring the undergrounds of the Russian capital, state news agency TASS reported on Monday. Several more are still being sought.
Heavy rain that hit Moscow on Sunday led to a sharp rise in the water level in the capital’s sewage system, which prevented people underground from getting to the surface, one of the rescuers said, quoted by TASS.
As a result of the incident, at least four people died, whose bodies were found. There were eight people in total on the trip. According to Russian media, the victims include an employee of the company organizing the event, his 15-year-old daughter and 17-year-old nephew. Reuters said it was unable to confirm the reports.
