Due to the great interest in the mObywatel application, some users experienced technical problems with the operation of the application, the Central Information Technology Center announced on Friday in social media. On Friday, the law that introduces a new identity document – mDowód – entered into force.

On July 14, the law on the mObywatel application entered into force, thanks to which we gained a new document – mDowod. The digitization ministry explained earlier that this is not a digital version of the ID card – the documents differ, among others, in series and number and expiry date.

However, some Internet users may have encountered problems in using the application. “Due to the great interest in the mObywatel application, some users have experienced technical problems with the application. We are working to solve them as soon as possible!” – wrote the government’s Central Information Technology Center on Friday morning in social media.

Just after midnight from Thursday to Friday, after the entry into force of the amendment, the Minister of Digitization Janusz Cieszyński posted a screenshot of mDowodu on Twitter. “It works for me,” he wrote.

Earlier, Cieszyński announced that “from Friday, it will be possible to use the mObywatel application in all places, with only minor exceptions.” – There will also be a new version of the application, more ergonomic, adapted to modern standards. This is just the beginning of a big change where mObywatel, apart from being an identity document, will become an intermediary (…). Each service, each matter will ultimately be dealt with through mObywatel – he explained.

He explained that the new application introduces the possibility of using it on a par with plastic proof. – The possibility of using the application in a more friendly version, but also the possibility of using the application as a way of logging in to state services, i.e. to the national node, trusted profile, where today we log in with a password or bank details. It is enough to scan the QR code, enter the data and then you will be able to log in via the mObywatel application without additional passwords – he explained.

The application will be available in Google Play and App Store. It will update itself when the phone is set to automatically update the application. Otherwise, after entering the store and finding the application, you will be able to press the update option. In the third solution, after entering the application, the update will be forced.

In the new mObywatel 2.0 there will be new functions and services.

– A new identity document will be available – mDowodu and a new function: cryptographic verification of mDowodu, also available without logging into the application. Therefore, a new identity document will appear in Poland, which we will be able to use throughout the country, with the exception of going abroad and applying for a traditional ID card and – until August 31 – confirming your identity in institutions covered by the Act on Counteracting Money Laundering (including in the bank)” – Michał Kalinowski, plenipotentiary of the Minister of Digitization for the mObywatel application, told PAP earlier.

– From September 1, these institutions will also be obliged to recognize mID – he added.

From July 14, there will be a new type of ID card – mDowód in the mObywatel application, next to the passport and ID card. – mID will have a different validity and issue date, as well as a number and series than the so-called plastic proof. It will be available only online in the mObywatel application. It will no longer be necessary to carry a plastic ID with you, because everyone will have a statutory obligation to accept mID. But it is worth emphasizing that this does not exempt citizens from the obligation to have a traditional ID card – said Kalinowski.

mObywatel – other services

– We are implementing the Safe Bus function, and an e-payment pilot is underway, which will be successively expanded. There are also local cards – we have already entered into cooperation with, among others, Zduńska Wola – he said.

He explained that local governments will be able to use this solution free of charge and their local cards/documents will appear in the application. – Then the local government does not have to issue a plastic card or create its own application, but has the option of making the local document available to its residents in the mObywatel application – he emphasized.

He noted that when it comes to e-payments, they will concern the relationship between the citizen and the state administration. – It doesn’t matter in which bank the citizen has an account, because it is connected BLIK and depending on whether banks have its functionality, you will be able to settle your payments – he said.

The mObywatel application is to be integrated with the Central Register and Information on Economic Activity (CEIDG), the National Court Register (KRS), the Register of the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture and the Register of Bailiffs and Notaries.
