Told in “Uwaga!” TVN, Emil's story leaves no one indifferent. An 8-year-old boy lost his mother a year ago, and now the disease is also taking away his father. When dad is gone, Emil will be alone. Mr. Mikołaj has one dream: to find a loving family for his son in the time he has left.

For now, they play and fight together – against the disease and against time, because Mr. Nicholas knows that he will die. – Therapy is over. I was discharged to home hospice. In my case there is no treatment. Sit and wait until the time comes – says Mr. Mikołaj Mielnik, Emil's father. This time may come in a few months, because Mr. Nicholas suffers from advanced lung cancer that is already out of control.

On the card, next to his father, 8-year-old Emil also painted his mother, who died less than a year ago. – I wish my mother was still alive – the boy admits.

When his father is gone, Emil will be left alone because none of his relatives can take care of him. Therefore, today the father's main goal is to find him a foster family. – It's hard to love a child right away, at first sight. You have to have a great soul to take such a step, but I believe in the good of people – says Mr. Mikołaj.

Mr. Nicholas would also like the new family to be able to live with the boy in his current home, so that he would not have to experience further changes and separation from school. The father also wants to get to know and choose a family so that he can designate them for care after his death.

Emil needs specialist care

Emil was born extremely premature. One kidney has not developed and the other one is functioning poorly. The boy has a urostomy bag on his stomach, which collects urine.

– We are in the period when we are starting to think about how to prepare him for a kidney transplant, but apart from that it does not significantly affect his functioning – says Prof. Mieczysław Litwin from the Department of Nephrology, Kidney Transplantation and Arterial Hypertension of the Children's Health Center.

The boy needs specialized medical care, but what is much more important is a loving family that will take care of his future.
