A kangaroo, an animal very distant from the Polish fauna, was observed in the Puszcza Zielonka Landscape Park near Poznań. Foresters are asking for help in tracking down an exotic visitor. But they warn that a kangaroo can be “slightly unpredictable” in a stressful situation.

At first, it is difficult to determine what kind of animal is walking along the forest path. At some point, however, he turns around and begins to hop characteristically. Then it becomes clear – it’s a kangaroo.

We can see all this in the recording published by the Forest Experimental Station in Murowana Goślina, which reported on its Facebook profile about an unusual inhabitant of the Puszcza Zielonka Landscape Park near Poznań.

Naturalists: it’s not April Fool’s Day

“Among the trees and forest paths… a kangaroo was observed – an animal definitely far from the native Polish fauna,” we read in the post.

It goes on to say that it’s not April Fool’s Day, so naturalists are asking for help in determining where the animal is currently staying. At the same time, they warn that kangaroos – although they are often perceived as friendly creatures – may turn out to be slightly unpredictable in stressful situations.

They ask you to be careful

So do not approach the animal, try to touch it or feed it. We should also keep a calm distance, avoid sudden movements and eye contact. The kangaroo may perceive this as a threat.

There is also an appeal to keep dogs on a leash when walking in the woods.

“Contact between a dog and an animal/kangaroo may lead to unpredictable reactions of both animals and pose a threat,” naturalists point out.

They want to catch it, they are asking for information

They also emphasize that they have taken action to catch and transport the kangaroo to a place where it will be cared for.

At the same time, they are asking everyone who has information about the animal’s current location to contact us via the Facebook profile: Leśny Zakład Doświadczalny in Murowana Goślina or the e-mail address: lzdmg@up.poznan.pl
