The Museum of Warsaw presents the exhibition program for the coming fall and winter. Among the novelties are the opening of a new space for modern art – Galeria Rynek 30 and exhibitions devoted to the history of Warsaw servants, Edward Manitius’ toy factory in Prague and the recreation of the forest biosphere in the Kampinos Forest. You can still see the exhibitions “Animals in Warsaw. On the trail of relationships” and “More Green! Projects by Alina Scholtz”.
In addition to the core exhibition, the Museum of Warsaw currently houses several temporary exhibitions, which end this fall. – Currently, the exhibition “Animals in Warsaw. On the trail of relationships” is open in our headquarters at the Old Town Square, which looks at the inhabitants of the city, but not only the human ones. The exhibition is open until October 3, informed Aleksandra Migacz from the Communication Team of the Museum of Warsaw. We will learn from the exhibition that humans are only one of the more than five thousand species living in the capital. The exhibition is divided into five mutually interpenetrating parts that reflect the complex nature of animal-human relations.
On the other hand, the Praga Museum of Praga will be able to see the exhibition “Praga of the 70s. Photographs by Albert Krystyniak” until 24 October at the Praga Museum of Warsaw. – In addition to the exhibition itself, which presents the inhabitants of Praga, tenement houses, alleys, contrasts that were very visible in Praga in the 1970s, a number of accompanying events await visitors – debates, lectures, tours, photo walks – encouraged Migacz.
Alina Scholtz – the mother of Polish landscape architecture
On the other hand, at the Wola Museum, the exhibition “More green! Projects by Alina Scholtz” will be presented until November 28th. – She is one of the first green designers in Poland and in the world in general. Thanks to it, Warsaw gained green areas after the war, which made it one of the greenest capitals in Europe. It is a process that has been going on for almost 70 years thanks to Alina Scholtz – she pointed out.
The Museum of Warsaw also invites you to guided tours, workshops, walks and bicycle trips – around the figure of Alina Scholtz, her projects and the broadly understood urban greenery.
In November, a monograph by Alina Scholtz will also be published, in which the creators of the exhibition write about her characters and projects from various perspectives and in relation to the present day. The book will be richly illustrated, and it will also contain a catalog of all Scholtz projects that have been reached. The Museum of Warsaw announces that “this is the first book entirely devoted to a green designer in Poland”.
A new gallery of contemporary art
– The upcoming projects are primarily the opening of a new space of the Museum of Warsaw, which is dedicated to contemporary art. This is the Rynek 30 Shopping Center, said Migacz.
Rynek 30 Gallery will be a field of activity for young artists and creators, as well as curators and curators, who deal with current and important topics in their work. Entrance in tenement house No. 32 at the Old Town Square.
– The first exhibition in this space will be an exhibition by Sayam Ghosh, born in Calcutta, entitled “How the forest returns”. It is a story about the Kampinos National Park and the Kampinos Forest, about a unique experiment that has been going on continuously for 60 years. In the Kampinos Forest, it was possible to recreate the forest biosphere on an exceptional scale – she pointed out.
The exhibition will be open from September 22 to January 30, 2022. The exhibition will be accompanied by lectures, tours, workshops and excursions.
They will tell the stories of Warsaw servants
In turn, at the headquarters of the Museum of Warsaw from November 17 to March 20, 2022, the exhibition “Invisible. Stories of Warsaw servants” will be on display.
– These are the stories of domestic workers who for decades functioned in the background of everyday life in Warsaw. Ladies “from everything and for everything”, employed in middle-class and wealthy homes. We will present the standards of their work and the scope of their duties from where they came to Warsaw, what relations they had with the “state”, their living conditions and private life – said the representative of the Museum of Warsaw.
The project, which also includes a publication, stretches back to modern times and raises questions about homework today. The exhibition will be accompanied by a film program, debates and guided tours, as well as a publication edited by Zofia Rojek, the exhibition’s curator. The invited researchers and researchers will present different perspectives and broadened views. They will be supplemented with illustrative material.
An exhibition about a toy factory in Prague
“Things to play. Edward Manitius and his label” – is the title of the exhibition presented at the Praga Museum of Warsaw from December 1 to March 20, 2022.
– It will be a story about a toy factory in Praga, where unusual items have been produced since the 1920s – beautiful and great design, but also creative, multifunctional school aids and development toys.
