The fire of a two-family building in Mysłaki (Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship) took place on Wednesday morning in Mysłaki. The fire left two families homeless. Its reasons will be explained by the appraiser.

On Wednesday, February 8, around 4:30 a.m., firefighters received a report of a fire in Mysłaki (Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship) at the Command Post of the Poviat Commander of the State Fire Service in Ostróda.

– From the attic of a two-story building, clouds of smoke and flames were visible. The informant also reported that the house was inhabited by seven people who managed to safely evacuate outside – informed senior captain. Grzegorz Różański, Spokesperson of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Provincial Commander of the SFS.

Three hosts from the rescue and firefighting unit in Morąg and hosts from the Volunteer Fire Brigade in Miłaków and Boguchwała were sent to the site.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, almost the entire attic of the building was engulfed in flames. Fortunately, all residents of the house managed to evacuate outside.

– The firefighting operation was difficult. Firefighters fed water from the fire hose lines both inside and outside the building, including using a hydraulic lift. Due to heavy smoke, firefighters had to work in respiratory protection equipment. We managed to save the ground floor of the house, but it is partially flooded with fire water – adds senior captain. Rozanski.

The house is uninhabitable

After the fire was extinguished, it was necessary to demolish the burnt elements of the roof structure. As emphasized by senior captain Różański, currently the building is uninhabitable. Estimated losses are about PLN 400,000. Two families who lived in the building were given shelter by relatives.

According to the junior brigade Marcin Wiśniewski, press officer of the District Commander of the SFS in Ostróda, the cause of the fire has not yet been established. A fire protection expert will be appointed to clarify the matter.

According to firemen’s estimates, since the beginning of the heating season, firefighters in Warmia and Mazury have intervened more than half a thousand times in connection with fires in residential buildings.
