Paramedics were attacked during an intervention in Namysłów (Opole Voivodeship). The woman broke the side window of the ambulance by hitting her fists and using her phone. After a while she was arrested.
The incident occurred on January 8 at 02:57. The emergency medical team from Namysłów was dispatched to a woman in emotional crisis.
According to the Opole Medical Rescue Center, at the scene of the incident a patient was found aggressive towards the intervening police patrol. The woman, who was under the influence of alcohol, clearly stated that she did not need medical help.
The police patrol refrained from taking action against the woman and left the scene.
She broke the side window of the ambulance
“In the meantime, an aggressive man appeared in front of the ambulance and started spitting on the ambulance and banging his fists and head against the windows with all his might. After some time, he moved away and started throwing stones at the vehicle. A short while later, the woman who had been intervening on a moment earlier ran out of the building. “The woman broke the side window of the ambulance by hitting her fists and using her phone,” we read in a statement from the Opole Medical Rescue Center.
A police patrol was called to the scene again, which overpowered the woman and detained her for further investigation.
As OCRM adds, as a result of the damage, the Namysłów region will not have its only ambulance for some time. The incident resulted in an extension of the time needed to reach patients due to the need for emergency medical teams from outside the area.
Threats and violence are not accepted
“We do not consent to the use of verbal and physical threats against Medical Rescue Teams,” emphasizes the Opole Medical Rescue Center.
Paramedics are public officials, so attacking a member of the emergency medical team may result in a fine, restriction of liberty or imprisonment.
