The National Reconstruction Plan is to be the basis for Poland to use additional funds from the European Union under the Reconstruction Fund to fight the effects of the coronavirus pandemic in the economy. So far, however, it has not been approved by the European Commission. – We strongly expect that the Commission will approve Poland’s KPO at the beginning of September – said Deputy Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Waldemar Buda on Thursday.
In Program 1 of Polish Radio, Buda was asked whether the approval of the Polish KPO expected by the government at the beginning of September was a government’s or the Commission’s plan.
KPO – when will it be approved?
– There is no answer from the European Commission, there are no confirmations in one way or another, we have such an expectation – said Waldemar Buda. – We can see the work schedule of the European Commission, ECOFIN and the European Council and we can see that there is a place for our plan (KPO – ed.) To be approved as well – he added.
– This is a definite expectation – he pointed out and added that the deadline of two months for the approval of the KPO by the European Commission has expired, as has Poland’s consent to extend this deadline. – The EC does not direct any comments to the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy, there are no contraindications to approve it – assessed the deputy minister.
Last week, the spokesman of the European Commission Eric Mamer said that there is no time frame when it comes to the date of a possible decision of the European Commission on the Polish KPO. However, the deadline agreed with Poland for the approval of the KPO expired on August 1.
National Reconstruction Plan
The National Reconstruction Plan is to be the basis for Poland to use additional funds from the EU under the Reconstruction Fund to fight the effects of the coronavirus pandemic in the economy. The KPO has to be prepared by each member state and sent to the European Commission. From the Reconstruction Fund, Poland will have around EUR 58 billion at its disposal.
