– I thanked all participants from the government for a very constructive approach and providing information to representatives of the opposition – he added.

The president said that it was “four hours of information and discussion, really exhausting, on all topics that were of interest to representatives of the parliament.”

President: Here we all speak with one voice

According to the president, the participants of the Council are satisfied. – Anyway, you could hear it, primarily from those participants who represented the opposition, which I personally receive with satisfaction – he added.

He expressed the opinion that there is not a single serious political force in Poland that would “break away” from this approach to Ukraine and Russian aggression. – On the contrary. It is so that here we all speak with one voice, which is very important, because it also shows our very strong and unambiguous Polish position in this matter – said Duda.

– I want to say with satisfaction that this is indeed a body that is clearly approaching Polish matters in a serious way. We know that there are many disputes on the political scene, it is natural, and we also have time – one can say – for the election campaign, some say that it has already begun. But I am glad that the topic of Ukraine, as I asked, has been treated seriously from the very beginning of Russian aggression and the approach of all participants in these meetings is extremely constructive, said President Duda

President: Prime Minister went to Kiev to take our Leopards

Earlier, at the beginning of the meeting, the president announced that the prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki went to Kiev to “bring our Leopards there, as the first tanks to arrive in Ukraine from this coalition tank assistance, in which we are the initiator from the very beginning. This was confirmed in the Ukrainian capital by the head of the Polish government himself.

Błaszczak about the coalition of Western countries that will hand over tanks to Ukraine

After the President’s opening speech, the Minister of National Defense took the floor Mariusz Blaszczak, which he began by emphasizing “Polish activity to support Ukraine”. – On January 11, the president put forward a project to create a coalition that would hand over Western-made tanks to Ukraine, and we have indeed built such a coalition. Here, the fact of our cooperation with Germany plays a fundamental role. After talking to my German counterpart, at his request, I agreed to such a division that the Polish side deals with building a coalition of countries that have Leopard 2A4 tanks, and the German side of countries that have Leopard 2A6 tanks – said the head of the Ministry of National Defense.

Błaszczak thanked the defense ministers of Norway, Canada, Finland “and also from other countries”. – We have led to the creation of a battalion of these tanks. Battalion in Ukrainian terms, so 31 tanks – he said. He added that Spain had also joined the coalition.

The Minister of National Defense also announced that Polish, Canadian and Norwegian instructors train Ukrainian soldiers in the operation of Leopard tanks in the training center in Świętoszów.

President Andrzej Duda stressed that in connection with the appearance of “these modern tanks on Ukrainian soil”, he is glad that “we also hold the palm of precedence in this area”. – And it is good from this point of view that the prime minister is implementing this today, especially since today is not a random day – the anniversary of the Russian attack on Ukraine – said the president.

Piotr Mueller, government spokesman, emphasized in his Twitter entry that “Today’s visit of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has a measurable character for the security of Ukraine and Europe.” “At the same time, we are carrying out further deliveries and orders for Polish army. We care about Poland’s security,” Mueller said.
