Tomasz Szatkowski will not fly with the president and ministers to Washington for the NATO summit. It has been obvious since the government blocked his participation – said Marcin Mastalerek, head of the president's office, on TVN24.

The summit will be held in Washington on Tuesday FOR THIS. The president and the ministers of foreign affairs and national defense will fly there on one plane. – Of course, on one plane. President Duda invited minister Sikorski and minister, deputy prime minister Kosiniak-Kamysz to the flight – said Marcin Mastalerek, head of the president's office, on TVN24. In this way – he argued – Duda “is trying to build unity, to reach out.”

Asked whether Tomasz Szatkowski would also fly the plane, he replied: “No, it has long been obvious that Ambassador Szatkowski will not be on board this plane. It has been obvious since the government blocked Ambassador Szatkowski from attending the NATO summit,” he replied.

Szatkowski has served as Poland's ambassador to NATO since 2019. In May, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the end of his mission. However, the president did not recognize this change and the appointment of a candidate indicated by Jacek Najder's government. Information about his planned flight together with the president and ministers was reported by “Gazeta Wyborcza”.

– This is not about surrender. If you report something obvious, that the ambassador will be in the room. And the government does not report it to the delegation, then why should he fly? On a trip? This is a question of rational behavior. If the government, breaking procedures, does not agree to something obvious that has been there for nine years, then why should he fly? On a trip? – Mastalerek repeated.
