PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny – the largest retail gas seller in Poland – has started sending invoices with a lower gas price in the payment forecasts for 2024. The company said customers who received higher forecasts would receive revisions.

As mentioned in a statement on Wednesday PGNiG From OD, at the beginning of July, the company decided to reduce the price of gas, which is the basis for the forecast for 2024, from PLN 516.73 per MWh to PLN 200.17 per MWh, i.e. the same price as in 2023. The company has already started shipping current invoices with the new, lower rate. All customers who have previously received forecasts with a higher rate will receive adjustments.

Customers who received payment plans for 2024 with the price of PLN 516.73 per MWh previously used to calculate forecasts, which resulted from the applicable tariff, will soon receive revised forecasts with a lower price for 2024, PGNiG OD noted, emphasizing that such customers may consider previously received forecasts with a payment date after January 1, 2024 as invalid.

The decision to apply a lower price was made by the company primarily due to the favorable trends in the European gas markets for 2024, which have been continuing for some time. The company indicated in the press release that it is also important that it is now part of the Orlen Group, which guarantees financial stability and allows for greater flexibility in response to market trends.

The current price used by PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny to calculate forecasts for both 2023 and 2024 results from the Act on the Protection of Gas Consumers in 2023 and amounts to PLN 200.17/MWh. It can be used by households, cooperatives and housing communities, as well as indicated sensitive entities, such as hospitals or nursing homes.
