The 2 storied service academies plan on wearing particular uniforms as a part of a tribute to America’s armed forces. Navy’s uniforms will honor the Marine Corps, whereas Air Power’s pays tribute to B-52 bomber jets.
Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo sees the sport as a chance to partake in one thing bigger than simply soccer.
“Very humbling, each personally and as a program, to pay respect to those that misplaced their lives on 9/11,” Niumatalolo stated. “Clearly, that day modified our nation perpetually.”
Air Power opened its season final week with a pleasant 35-14 victory in opposition to FCS opponent Lafayette, with Falcon quarterback Haaziq Daniels working for 3 touchdowns on 19 carries.
Navy, however, is hoping to bounce again from a home-field embarrassment by the hands of Marshall 49-7 on Saturday. Navy’s protection allowed 4 speeding touchdowns to Marshall freshman Rasheen Ali in his collegiate debut—three within the first half alone.
“In our thoughts, this sport’s over with,” Niumatalolo stated Saturday. “We ain’t speaking about it, we ain’t watching the movie. We’ve gotta prepare for Air Power. It’s the most important sport of the 12 months, clearly, till the final one on the finish of the 12 months (Military).”
The particular Navy/Air Power sport kicks off this Saturday at 3:30 PM ET on CBS.
