A US man has admitted the rape and homicide of a girl who was pushed down a ravine close to a well-known German landmark, used because the inspiration for the well-known Disney Fort.

The 31-year-old made the admission at the beginning of his trial in Kempten, southern Germany.

He allegedly met two American girls, aged 21 and 22, close to Neuschwanstein Fort, considered one of Germany’s best-known points of interest, in June last year.

Prosecutors say the trio have been near the Marienbruecke, a bridge over a gorge that provides views of the citadel.
