Adam Buksa was one of three Polish players to score in the opponent's net at the European Championships in Germany. The striker scored his goal in the first group stage match against the Netherlands, with a header after a good cross from a corner kick.
Buksa scored a goal and angered the rival coach. “The principle of fair play applies”
The 28-year-old spent the last season in Turkey, where he scored 16 goals while on loan, but that didn't change his position at Lens. He was eventually sold to Danish side Midtjylland. The Pole made his debut on July 19 in a clash with Aarhus and scored straight away, a header, of course. He failed to find the net in the two-legged second round of the Champions League qualifiers against UE Santa Coloma from Andorra, but he scored another goal in the league match.
On Saturday, Midtjylland hosted Aalborg at home. In the 44th minute, Adam Buksa received the ball on the edge of the penalty area. He didn't hesitate for long and fired a precise left-foot shot into the far corner of the opponent's goal. The ball went into the net, and the hosts took the lead. In the second half, Ola Brynhildsen set the score at 2:0.
“A new bomber has landed in Heden” and “Polish class” – this is how the Danish press writes about the Pole. – I got the ball from Oliver Sørensen and simply tried to place it in the far corner, which I managed to do. It was a precise shot and we are happy with this goal. It is a great feeling [strzelić gola na domowym stadionie – red.]. It's something I've been looking forward to because it's my job and the reason I was brought here – said Adam Buksa after the match in an interview with TV2 television.
The goal scored by the Polish striker is controversial, however, because at the time, Mylian Jimenez, a player from the visiting team, was lying in the penalty area, having been injured by a foot-stomping opponent. Aalborg coach Menno Van Dam said after the match on TV2 that he believed it was a free kick. “Of course I was angry. They showed us a photo of the situation and he stood on Mylian's leg. I don't have to talk about the referees' decisions, but it was an important decision. In Holland, fair play is the rule. We play the ball and they continue playing. In my opinion, it was a free kick,” said the Dutchman.
For Midtjylland, it was their first win in a third league match this season. The Danish champions have five points, while Adam Buksa has played in two matches, scoring in both.
