At the end of April, firefighters fished out the body of a man from Drwęca near Nowa Wieś (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship). His identity has not been established to this day. Material for DNA testing was collected during the autopsy. The prosecutor’s office is investigating the case of involuntary manslaughter.

At the end of April, volunteer firefighters from Złotoria received a report of bodies floating on the Drwęca River near Nowa Wieś in the Toruń district. In addition to them, firefighters from the OSP in Lubicz and firefighters from the Rescue and Fire Fighting Unit No. 3 from Toruń took part in the action.

As reported by Sgt. Sebastian Pypczyński from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Toruń is the body of a 40-year-old man. He explained that the preliminary findings show that no third parties contributed to the death.

The Toruń Prosecutor’s Office is conducting an investigation into the man’s unintentional manslaughter.

– No documents or objects allowing for his unequivocal identification were found with the man. In the light of the above circumstances, it was necessary to conduct identification DNA tests. In the course of an autopsy ordered by the prosecutor, genetic material necessary for further research was collected – said prosecutor Andrzej Kukawski, spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Toruń.
