New government. Marcin Horała on the meaning of Mateusz Morawiecki’s mission and Donald Tusk

President Andrzej Duda despite the declarations of the Civic Coalition, Third Way and the Left, he entrusted the formation of the coalition on Monday evening the mission of forming a government to Mateusz Morawiecki. The current democratic opposition can count on 248 of the 460 seats in the new Sejm, and PiS – on 194.

Deputy Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Marcin Horała (PiS), asked about this issue on Tuesday by TVN24 reporter Sebastian Napieraj, said that “in parliamentary and cabinet systems it is customary that the formation that won the elections, that won the largest number of votes, that has the largest parliamentary club has the right to be the first to make such an attempt to form a government.

– If there was a list of the united opposition that won more votes than Law and Justice, which has more seats, is a different story, but there was no such list. What’s more, if we look at the programs of the parties that make up this majority, they are largely divergent, he said.

– So Law and Justice has the right – as the one that got the most votes – to make such an attempt – said Horała. – We do not hide the fact that the chances for this are rather small, but we have to try – he added.

When asked what the meaning of this mission was, he replied that “to use every possible, even a small chance that Donald Tusk would not come back to rule in Poland, because we remember what his rule meant for Poland.”

– History would not forgive us for this – he added.

He noted that the constitution clearly defines the next steps. – If this coalition holds for the next month or so – because it undoubtedly does now, but there is also a time factor in politics and what it will be like in three weeks, in four weeks, we will find out in four weeks – then probably in about four weeks will choose its candidate for prime minister, Horała said.
