The New Horizons International Film Festival will be held for the 21st time this year. The organizers have prepared over 600 live screenings in cinemas (and not only) and online, because this year the festival will be held in hybrid form (August 12-22, stationary; August 12-29 – online screenings).

And movie fans have a lot to be happy about. The festival will open on August 12 with “Titane” Julia Ducournau, appreciated by the Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. New Horizons – film competition

According to tradition, the festival will host the New Horizons International Film Competition. 12 titles from Austria, France, Tunisia, the United States and Vietnam, among others, will be judged by a jury chaired by Olga Tokarczuk. Poland will be represented by Piotr Stasik’s film “Moths”.

Fans of our home cinema will be able to see Katarzyna Klimkiewicz’s “Because there’s sex in me” and take part in the world premiere of Łukasz Grzegorzek’s “My wonderful life”, attended by Agata Buzek and Jacek Braciak, among others.

On August 14, Mariusz Wilczyński – the creator of the award-winning full-length animation “Kill it and leave this town” – will prepare a live animated film “The Devil knows no bounds”. The performance will be accompanied by music by Marcel Markowski, cellist of Sinfonia Varsovia, also performed live.

New Horizons. Not only in the cinema

The screenings organized as part of the festival will take place not only in the Nowe Horyzonty Cinema, but also in the Lower Silesian Film Center, the Capitol Musical Theater and on the Wrocław market square.

In addition, the festival program includes artistic events: the exhibition “Z (don’t panic, kiss me)” or a performance by Sonia Wieder-Atherton, film heroines and companion, the life of Chantal Akerman.
