New Jersey police officer catches 1-month-old child dropped off balcony

A New Jersey police officer safely caught a one-month-old baby dropped off a second-floor balcony over the weekend, authorities stated.

The Hudson County prosecutor’s workplace stated Officer Eduardo Matute was amongst these known as to the Jersey Metropolis residence Saturday morning after experiences {that a} man was threatening the newborn.

NorthJersey.com experiences that he and a number of other officers had been positioned under the second-floor balcony because the baby was dangled over the balcony railing. Officers stated the person dropped the toddler after a prolonged standoff, and Matute caught the kid.

Metropolis spokesperson Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione stated the kid was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Mayor Steve Fulop later posted a photograph on social media of the officer holding the kid, who was wrapped in a white blanket.

“Fortunately the newborn wasn’t harmed bodily,” Fulop stated.

Wallace-Scalcione stated the person who dropped the newborn was instantly arrested and expenses are pending.


“Kudos to the (Jersey Metropolis Police Division) and all of the officers concerned for his or her heroics and for bringing a secure conclusion to this harmful scenario,” Prosecutor Esther Suarez stated in a Twitter put up.
