Poland must have such a migration strategy because Poles are concerned that the state does not control its borders, said the Minister of Sport and Tourism, Sławomir Nitras, in “Fakty po Faktach”. He assured that he knows the assumptions of the new strategy, and in four ministries “statutory changes” are underway based on them.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the Civic Coalition convention announced that on Tuesday, October 15, at the meeting of the Council of Ministers, he would present the government's migration strategy “Regain control, ensure security.” One of its elements will be temporary territorial suspension of the right to asylum. His declaration was followed by negative comments, mainly from humanitarian organizations.
Minister of Sports and Tourism Sławomir Nitras he said in “Fakty po Faktach” that he was not surprised by the prime minister's announcement because, as a member of the government, he “participates in the work on a new migration strategy in Poland.” He admitted that since the beginning of Tusk's government, work has been ongoing in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy, the Ministry of the Interior and Administration and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
– This strategy, which the Prime Minister announced yesterday and which the government will adopt on Tuesday, is a guideline for all top-level officials who need to know what the state's policy is – said the minister.
– I know the assumptions of this document, statutory changes are underway in four ministries (…) based on the assumptions of this strategy, which was developed in parallel – he added.
He said that “eight years of PiS rule were blind and bareback.” – Anti-immigrant rhetoric and, at the same time, the lack of any state strategy in this area. This is the minister (Mariusz) Błaszczak as the Minister of Internal Affairs, he liquidated and invalidated the migration strategy to Poland and never developed an alternative document. Poland must have such a strategy because Poles are concerned that the state – as Prime Minister Tusk said – does not control its borders – says Nitras.
