Pogoń Grodzisk Mazowiecki drew 1-1 with Hutnik Kraków in Saturday's second league hit. Unfortunately, this match became very famous due to the scandalous scenes that took place during added time.
Scandalous scenes during the match Pogoń Grodzisk Mazowiecki – Hutnik Kraków. There is the club's reaction
Then Hutnik's midfielder, Yevheni Bełycz, was standing in the corner of the pitch and preparing to take a corner kick, one of the “fans” standing nearby tried to spit on him. Earlier, the same person targeted an assistant referee. And that's not the end.
On Sunday, November 3, Pogoń published a statement. It emphasized that the club “strongly condemns the outrageous behavior” from Saturday's match, and also informed about the penalties imposed on two troublemakers “whose behavior grossly exceeded the accepted norms.” For two years, they will not be able to participate in any events organized by the residents of Grodzisk.
In addition, it was announced that “the data of the people who committed the shameful act, the stadium CCTV footage, as well as the video materials from the broadcast will be forwarded to the relevant services in order to conduct an investigation.” And according to the website Meczyki.pl on Monday, everything was delivered to the District Police Headquarters in Grodzisk Mazowiecki.
“Due to the scandalous behavior, the image of not only the Club, but all Pogoń Fans and residents of Grodzisk Mazowiecki has suffered. We are embarrassed by the whole situation and we are ashamed that such a situation occurred at our stadium,” the statement said. However, there was no public apology to Hutnik and the referees; a letter of apology was sent to the Krakow club and the Wrocław Judges' College (the referees of Saturday's meeting are from this district).
Confusion before the match Pogoń Grodzisk Mazowiecki – Hutnik Kraków. The matter will be investigated with the police
In connection with these events, Pogoń, as the organizer, should also expect a penalty from the Polish Football Association. Moreover, there is one more issue that remains to be clarified. Well, some local fans had trouble getting into Saturday's match. “For an unknown reason, the police prohibited us from admitting fans with a valid ticket to the match, even though we did not reach the total possible number of people in the stadium (it was a non-mass event, so the limit was 999 people – ed.),” Pogoń reported. According to Meczyki.pl, the matter will be clarified on Monday during a meeting of the club's representatives and the headquarters in Grodzisk.
After 16 rounds of the second league, Pogoń Grodzisk Mazowiecki has 40 points and is leading in the table. Hutnik Kraków, on the other hand, takes fourth place with 26 points.
