A 28-year-old man is threatened with up to 12 years in prison, who at a gas station in Nowa Dęba (Podkarpackie Voivodeship) threatened a saleswoman demanding alcohol, and also threatened with a knife and threatened with death a man who stood up for her. The aggressor also allegedly attacked one of the police officers who intervened against him.

The incident took place on Thursday (July 20) after 10 p.m. Police officers from Nowa Dęba were then notified of an attempted robbery that was to take place at one of the petrol stations.

– According to the reports of the victims, a man came to the gas station, who, being under the influence of alcohol or a similar agent, threatened the saleswoman and demanded the release of alcohol – said sub-inspector Beata Jędrzejewska-Wrona, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Tarnobrzeg. The perpetrator – as the police officer reported – was very aggressive, shouted and used vulgar words.

He attacked the man who stood up for the shop assistant with a knife and threatened the police

“An accidental man who entered the store stood up for the woman. Then the attacker took out a knife and started waving it. He threatened the man with his life. When the aggressor did not achieve his goal, he ran away from the store. Fortunately, no one was hurt” – informed the uniformed officer.

The police arrested the attacker. The man was agitated and aggressive. He threatened officers, disobeyed their orders, and attempted to attack one of the uniformed officers. The policeman used his weapon, firing a warning shot into the air, reported sub-inspector Jędrzejewska-Wrona.

He was arrested and charged

The perpetrator turned out to be a 28-year-old resident of Nowa Dęba. The man was taken into police custody. He was questioned and charged with six felonies.

On Saturday (July 22), the District Court in Tarnobrzeg granted the request of the police officers and the prosecutor and imposed preventive measures against the suspect in the form of pre-trial detention for a period of three months. The man, according to the police, faces up to 12 years in prison.

Whoever steals by using violence against a person or by threatening to use it immediately or by leading a person to a state of unconsciousness or vulnerability, shall be subject to the penalty of deprivation of liberty for a term of between 2 and 12 years.
