Another new feature in the autumn timetable is the Lech train connection from Warsaw to Wrocław. The train will run via Poznań, and the journey between the capitals of the Wielkopolska and Lower Silesian voivodeships is expected to take 1 hour 18 minutes.
The new Esperanto train on the Łódź – Białystok route will only stop in the capital. The route from the center of the capital to the Gdańsk Główny station will be covered in 2 hours 25 minutes. The trains were implemented for the holidays, but due to great interest, they will remain in the timetable until at least mid-December.
As PKP Intercity reminded, the capacity of the Warszawa Centralna station and the cross-city line in the Warsaw agglomeration (Warszawa Centralna – Warszawa Zachodnia) has been restored, which means that all long-distance trains will stop in the center of Warsaw. Only the Łokietek train (Kraków Główny – Warszawa Wschodnia) will run through the Warszawa Gdańska station between October 21 and November 8.
Changes on the railways from September
From September to the end of the year, the infrastructure manager will be carrying out works on the Central Railway Main Line, which will reduce the speed of trains to 160 km/h from 200 km/h. For this reason, trains running on the route Warsaw – Krakow – Warsaw and Warsaw – Katowice – Warsaw may have extended travel times from 11 min. to 23 min.
PKP Intercity has announced that during the autumn timetable adjustment, passengers will have mobile information agents at their disposal at the 15 largest railway stations in Poland. They will help passengers determine convenient transfers or find the right platform.
In turn, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe announced that from September 1, new stops will provide better access to the railway. Koszalin University of Technology and Koszalin East. Passengers will also board trains from the new Grudziądz Rządz, Łódź Zarzew and Głowno Północne stops. In Podkarpacie, a new stop in Lutoryż will be opened, built on line no. 106 Rzeszów – Jasło. In Lower Silesia, trains will stop at the Strzelce Świdnickie stop (Wrocław – Świdnica railway line). It will be serviced on demand.
The railway infrastructure manager also announced that, in connection with the start of the investment in Katowice, from September 1, train traffic through the main station in the city will be maintained, but the scope of the works requires changes to the timetable. Some trains will run on changed routes, some on shortened routes. Nine PKP Intercity trains will stop at the Katowice Ligota station, bypassing the Katowice station. On selected dates, some regional night trains will be replaced by a replacement bus service (ZKA).
In the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, due to maintenance works on the Szczecinek – Białogard section, ZKA will be introduced. Five pairs of PKP Intercity trains will run on the route via Stargard station with a change of direction. All changes have been included in the train timetable.
The timetable adjustment will be valid from 1 September to 9 November.
