Loss of driving license and a PLN 2,000 fine – this is how a 40-year-old man was punished for driving through the city in Nowa Sól (Lubusz Voivodeship) in too much of a hurry. The man accelerated the car to 114 kilometers per hour in a place where the speed limit is 50.

A driver exceeding the speed limit in built-up areas by at least 51 km/h must take into account the loss of his driving license for a period of three months and this is a penalty independent of other charges.

That was also the case here. According to Aspirant Justyna Sęczkowska-Sobol from the police in Nowa Sól, the 40-year-old, in addition to losing his driving license, was fined PLN 2,000. He also had 14 penalty points added to his account.

The policewoman pointed out that if the driver gets behind the wheel again within the next three months, he or she risks another fine and an extension of the period of suspension of the driving license.
