Drivers leaving Zakopane after New Year’s Eve must be patient – the popular Zakopane is very busy from the early afternoon. The biggest problems are in the mountainous part – when leaving Zakopane and on the uphill stretch between Nowy Targ and Klikuszowa.
As reported by the officer on duty at the Krakow branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA), conditions on the mountain section of Zakopianka improved on Monday evening after the morning snowfall – the entire length of the road is now black and wet. The forecast for the next few hours does not predict any significant snowfall.
Problems on the mountain section
Despite this, the route is congested in its mountainous part, mainly on single-road sections – the exit from Zakopane and the uphill stretch between Nowy Targ and Klikuszowa. This is happening – explains the representative of GDDKiA – due to the increased traffic of cars coming from the Podhale towns.
