NYPD received a report of a man firing a gun Saturday at 11:10 a.m. local time (5:10 p.m. PT). Police: attacked five times

Joseph Kenny, the assistant chief of the New York City Police Department, told a news conference that the man on the scooter attacked five times on Saturday. 17 minutes later, a man allegedly shot the 87-year-old multiple times in Brooklyn’s adjacent Queens County. The senior died after being transported to the hospital.

Soon after, witnesses told the police that they saw the assailant shooting at random passers-by. However, no one was injured then. Eight minutes after that call, also in Queens County, a 44-year-old man was shot in the face. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition. A minute later, another victim – a 63-year-old – was shot in the torso. He was hospitalized in a stable condition.

Scooter detained. “We don’t know the motive”

During the manhunt for the armed scooter rider, the police officers received screenshots of the video showing the attacker from the police station. Officers found a man matching the image in the video about two hours after the first incident.

Kenny said the 25-year-old was taken “without incidents” by officers. His identity has not been made public. The shooter driving the scooter used a 9 mm pistol with an enlarged magazine. Officers seized both the gun and the suspect’s vehicle.

– We don’t know the motive. It seems that his (25-year-old – ed.) actions were random – emphasized the representative of the New York police.
