Niechanowo. Coliforms and enterococci in the village water supply

The District Sanitary Inspector in Gniezno (Wielkopolska Province) reported that residents of Niechanów and nearby towns cannot use water from the village water supply. The culprits are coliforms and enterococci.

Since Thursday (September 5), residents of the Niechanowo commune have been without water. A statement on this matter was issued by the District Sanitary Inspector in Gniezno, who stated that the water is unfit for human consumption.

“Based on the control tests carried out, it was found that the water quality does not meet the requirements specified in the Regulation of the Minister of Health of 7 December 2017 on the quality of water intended for human consumption in terms of bacteriology in terms of the parameters: coliform bacteria and enterococci,” we read in the release.

A statement on this matter was issued by the Sanitary Inspectorate in Gniezno.

The Sanitary Inspectorate recommended not to drink tap water, not to use it to prepare meals, not to wash fruit, vegetables, kitchen utensils or surfaces in contact with food. It was also noted that it is not suitable for maintaining personal hygiene.

Water may only be used for flushing toilets.

Water tankers were provided

The mayor of Niechanów informed the municipality's websitethat from 6 to 9 September, due to the water being deemed unfit for consumption, water tankers will be provided. Eight points have been designated: the car park at the church in Niechanów, at the community centre in Marysin, at the community centre in Nowa Wieś Niechanowska, at the community centre in Trzuskołoń, at Folwark 42, at the community centre in Miroszka, at the blocks in Mikołajewice and at the community centre in Arcugów.

The ban is valid until further notice.
