On the Night of Museums in Wrocław, almost 80 institutions will be open to visitors. Galleries, museums and cultural institutions can be visited absolutely free of charge. Some of them will be open from 12 p.m.

International Museum Day will take place on Saturday, May 18. On this day, many museums and attractions open their doors to visitors. This year, the museum night will start exceptionally early, because some events will start around 12 p.m. However, it is worth remembering that in some cultural institutions advance reservations are required.

Zajezdnia History Center

At the Zajezdnia History Center at 184 Grabiszyńska Street, visitors can visit temporary exhibitions and the main exhibition “Wrocław 1945-2016” along with educational cards. Another gem will be the opportunity to ride on the historic “Ogórek”.

At. 4:00 p.m. the center invites you to a performance of the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra as part of the 15th Leo Festival, inspired by the book “Bieguni” Olga Tokarczuk. This is part of a broader concept in which the orchestra leaves the walls of the NFM to reach a wider audience with its compositions through street performances.

Throughout the duration of the event, there will be rides on Jelcz 043, i.e. the so-called the popular “Cucumber”. The bus will run from the Golgotha ​​of the East sanctuary to the Zajezdnia History Center at ul. Grabiszyńska 184. Departures at: 1:15 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Wrocław Contemporary Museum

On Saturday, the Wrocław Contemporary Museum will be open to visitors from 4:00 p.m. to midnight.

· 17:00-19:00 – Green gardening workshop by Michalina Służewska, which will take place in the square behind the museum;

· 18:00 – Sylwia Owczarek's tour of the exhibitions “The missing family head” and “The (in)consistent painter”;

· 20:00-22:00 – Green culinary workshop by Michalina Kostecka on the museum terrace;

· 21:00 – Guided tour by Sylwia Kościelniak around the exhibitions “Callart 3. Virtual Window” and the works of Stanisław Dróżdż;

· 22:00 – Musical performance harmonized with the shelter. Performance by instrumentalists from the Wrocław Improvised Orchestra and the Klub Szalonych collective;

· 00:00 Museum closing. The last visitors can enter until 23:40. After this time, employees will direct guests to the exit.

National Music Forum

At the National Forum of Music, residents can enjoy a painting exhibition, mobile concerts as part of the 15th edition of the Leo Festival, workshops for children, guided tours of inaccessible corners of the NFM, and a special edition of the NFM Organ Cinema, during which participants will see Buster Keaton's short silent films with music. live performed by Tomasz Głuchowski and DJ Michał Mackiewicz.

· 12:00–20:15 – exhibition of works by Piotr Błażejewski, Stanisław Kortyka and Marian Wołczuk as part of the 9th Painting Festival (NFM foyer)

· 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m. – “Mobility is reality” – concerts in urban spaces in Wrocław

· 16:00 – NFM tour (entrance tickets are required and can be collected at the NFM ticket office from May 6 to May 18)

· 18:00 – “Sound Laboratory of Small Instruments” – interactive workshops in the Chamber Hall for children aged 5-13; The presence of a guardian is obligatory during the classes (tickets must be collected at the ticket office from May 13, until stocks last; one person can collect one ticket for a child with a guardian)

· 6:00 p.m., 6:45 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8:15 p.m. – NFM Organ Cinema – screenings of silent films from the 1920s with live music in the Main Hall (entrance tickets are required and can be collected from the NFM audience staff on May 18 from 5 p.m. :00; one person can get a ticket for one of the four parts of the event).

National Institute of Ossoliński family

In the main building of the Ossolineum at ul. Szewska 37, this year's night of museums will be marked by an extraordinary museum. A temporary exhibition entitled “Un/obvious history. 200 years of the Princes Lubomirski Museum” will be available to visit. That evening it will be open from 5 p.m. until midnight.

At 4:00 p.m., the facility also invites children aged 6-12 and their guardians to participate in family workshops accompanying the exhibition: “Let's create a museum!”, inspired by the extraordinary history of creating the collection of the Princes Lubomirski Museum. The classes are free of charge, but registration is required via the reservation form, available from May 6 on the website ossolineum.pl in the education tab – for families with children.

Throughout the evening, guests will also be able to enjoy one of the most beautiful courtyards in Wrocław, full of puzzles, a café, the possibility of purchasing publications and an observation deck from which you can admire the evening panorama of the city.

Silesian Museum Wrocław

The Silesian Museum in Wrocław will present the most important elements, figures and events of the decades-long history of WKS. The exhibition consists of both exhibits and multimedia materials.

During the Night of Museums, visitors to the Tarczyński Arena will learn details about the lives of distinguished footballers, see the historical coats of arms of Silesia and the stadiums where footballers played their home matches. Due to the WKS Śląsk vs Radomiak match, starting on May 18 at 5:30 p.m., the Night of Museums at the Silesian Museum Wrocław at the Tarczyński Arena will take place from 8:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

Free transport on the Night of Museums 2024

During this year's Night of Museums, as many as six free lines operated by historic rolling stock are scheduled to run – four bus and two tram lines. The courses will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and are organized by the Public Transport Supporters' Club. On the route you will be able to meet, among others: an N-type tram from 1949, an articulated 102 from 1972, and Jelcz and Ikarus buses, mainly from the 1980s.
