With the votes of the Citizens' Coalition councilors and some of the Law and Justice councilors removed from the meeting, the draft resolution on the introduction of night prohibition. At the beginning of Thursday's session, the chairman of the Civic Coalition Councilors Club Jarosław Szostakowski applied for a photo of the draft resolution on the night prohibition from the agenda. As an argument, he gave the lack of first reading on committees.

– We think, as a civic coalition, that this project is complicated. It raises numerous social and economic effects in the field of security. We don't know what. Therefore, we want these projects to be discussed – said Szostakowski.

“Empty PR password”

Representative of the Applicant Councilor MJN Jan Mencwel emphasized that it was councilors with their legal tricks that they use the fact that they have the majority in every committee and the council of Warsaw and removed this resolution from the agenda of the committee and the council. “For them, security is only an empty PR slogan,” he said.

Earlier, during a press conference of representatives, the city is ours, Jan Mencwel explained the circumstances of the photo of the resolution from the agenda.

– In order for the resolution to be subjected to the vote of the Warsaw Council, the so -called “first reading” must go. The relevant commission to carry out this “first reading” was the Social Policy Committee, which took place on Tuesday. There, KO councilors did not allow any discussion. They immediately removed the resolution – said councilman Mencwel.

– It is crucial to understand what the approach to this resolution of the Citizens' Coalition Councilors is. They just didn't want to allow discussion and voting – he added.

Delayed topic

Left councilor and the city is our Melania Łuczak pointed out that she applied for interruption of opinions to continue the discussion on March 14. – When we get additional data, which the councilors asked for. I believe that these data will confirm the legitimacy of this resolution – she added.

Chairman of the Law and Justice Councilors Club Dariusz Figura pointed out that this topic is delayed by the Civic Coalition. – There was a lot of time to prepare opinions, including industry or statistics regarding the alcohol problem in Warsaw – he added.

– The whole decision is on the side of the Civic Coalition, which in the election campaign is not able to make such a decision – he emphasized.

Two projects

The Left and City Club is our draft resolution introducing night prohibition. It would apply throughout the city from 22-6.

Sales restriction is to apply in stores and at gas stations. Night prohibition will not apply to restaurants, bars, pubs, etc. If the councilors adopted a resolution, it would enter into force 14 days from the date of its publication in the Official Journal of the Masovian Voivodeship and publication in the Public Information Bulletin of the Capital City of Warsaw.

A similar draft resolution was also presented by the President of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski. In his project, prohibition would be valid between 23-6. She would have a 3-month grace period.
